I admired his foresight to have embarked on such investment in a prime location. The returns from the lease of this property at the beginning of every year pays for most of his major bills during the
year and this was just one of his investments.
I was particularly fascinated by the prime location of this one property, and I was curious to know the story behind it.
(TRUE LIFE STORY)
PP: Deacon, please tell me how you were able to get a property in this prime location at the time you got it.
DEACON: Hmm PP, I think the person to acknowledge is my wife. Several years ago, we saved up some money and we wanted to buy this particular land
On our way to make payment for the land, I saw a friend of mine driving a very beautiful car. He was dressed in a designer T-shirt and jeans. He parked and we had a little chat. I asked him for the price of the car and where he got it. The car cost the same as the amount we had in our account at the time to purchase the land.
PP: OK
DEACON: My friend drove off. I turned to my wife and pleaded with her that we should postpone buying the land till later in the year. I told her I really loved the car and would want to buy it.
My wife looked at me, smiled, and then she said, “Sweetheart, you can go ahead and buy the car. I will alight at the next bus stop, but by the time you get home, I would have packed out of the house with the kids because I never knew I married a useless man until now.”
Now I was laughing so hard.
DEACON: Hmm, I grudgingly went to pay for the land and we gradually built our house. But guess what? On the day of the housewarming, we invited my friend and he came with his car, which by now didn’t look as breathtaking as it did earlier because there were newer models around.
My friend entered our new house and he burst into tears. He lamented about how his landlord evicted him the previous week because he couldn’t pay his rent. He talked about how things have not been so good with him.
