Tears in the eyes, wrinkles on the face, a stern look, clenched fist and a heart as strong as steel .
The wars and battles we fight as we approach adulthood, the disappointments and failures we experience, hurt from friends, family and organizations; all these take a toll on our gentle spirits.
After several years of fighting many battles, losing a loved one down the years, making sacrifices for family and kids, losing a job and defaulting in transactions or bills, going through a divorce or separation, we become like vicious warriors. Our perception of the world is greatly altered as a result of pain and disappointments.
These many battles begin to take a toll on us unconsciously. It becomes difficult to trust again, to value friendship again and to love without reservation. We lose the greatest gift we received from nature when we came into the world: the gift of a gentle, good-natured spirit.
I see the good nature and gentle spirit in my wife and I wonder how she managed to guard and keep it through the years of growing up.
As you read this chapter, make up your mind to find that beautiful YOU again. Look for him within you, find him again. Do not be afraid that this will make you vulnerable. You have a big heart now and you can accommodate human errors and disappointments.
Do butterflies still make you smile? (Just a thought).
I sincerely hope you can still find that beautiful YOU that will do anything for love, and sacrifice anything and everything for friendship. Look for that you and find him again.
